History

Brad Porterfield, the owner of Humble Sewing Center, has been in the sewing machine and vacuum business since the late 70’s. In the early days, he started from the ground up in sales, service, and repair as an employee of a sewing machine store in Arkansas. Over the years, he has become a factory trained technician for all brands including: Elna, Viking, Brother, Singer, Bernina, Janome, and Babylock.

Brad has successfully owned and operated a number of prosperous sewing machine stores including Meyerland Sewing Center. He purchased Humble Sewing Center in 1997 from the original owner, Bob Crain. Through the years, under Brad’s guidance and standard of excellence, the store has continued to thrive and prosper.

At Humble Sewing Center - SewVac Outlet, we believe in generously contributing to the surrounding community. We have furthered and encouraged the love of sewing by donating new and used machines to various non-profit groups such as a local Girl Scout Troop, churches, quilt guilds, and other charitable organizations. Humble Sewing Center is the proud sponsor of local girl’s softball and volleyball teams.

Over 30 years of customer satisfaction and community service has helped our success and store growth. In order to provide more products and classes than ever before, we have recently relocated to a much bigger store; complete with a Sewing Academy Classroom, repair center, and spacious show room.
